Sony hopes new Xperia Z5 Premium will wow with 4K screen
Sony is hoping the Xperia Z5 Premium’s 4K screen and 23-megapixel camera are a winning combination as it looks for a way to turn around its ailing smartphone fortunes. It showed the Xperia Z5 Premium along with the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact at an event in Berlin on Wednesday. Because the Z5 Premium won’t go on sale until November, Sony had to come up with something special to differentiate it from high-end smartphones running Android that went on sale seven months or more prior. In the end, the company decided to go for a 4K screen. Smartphones with 4K screens have been rumored for some time, but Sony is the first to introduce one. The Z5 Premium has a 5.5-inch screen with 2160 x 3840 pixels. That will, at least on paper, help separate in from competing products with 1440 x 2560 pixel screens. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More

iPhone 7 rumor rollup: Official invite, Fear the Walking Dead angle, 6C or not 6C
Macworld UK It probably really is time to switch the name of this round-up to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus rumor rollup since those will almost surely be the names of what’s coming next from Apple on the smartphone front, but before long, it’ll be back to slinging iPhone 7 scuttlebutt anyway.Apple officially issued invites this past week to a Sept. 9 event in San Francisco that is presumed to be for the unveiling of the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and maaaaaybe, an iPhone 6C. The invite suggests that Siri might be able to give us a hint about the news, but when asked, Siri simply directs you to the Apple website, and you can guess how helpful that is. When we asked Siri specifically if she could give us a hint, Apple's smart voice tech suggested: "Look deep within yourself and you will find the answer."To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More
